The Goldfish Tribunal: Part 1: The Indictment

My kids caught me putting two live goldfish in the freezer yesterday. I needed to cut a goldfish in half for an upcoming shoot and figured the best way to do this was to freeze the fish first. They were appalled and begged me for a stay of execution. I would have none of it.

15 minutes later while walking through the kitchen I noticed the container I had put the fish in laying empty on the counter. My kids had liberated the fish and put them in some water in their room. I put the fish back in the freezer while my children howled.

There will be a reckoning.

lol. Enjoying your blog. I had 2 goldfish-from-an-editorial-shoot-leftovers that I kept alive in a tank for a year out of guilt. One eventually developed a tumor on his head and it slowly blew open and he died. The other died soon after from what I assume was loneliness. I think you made the right choice.

Two words sums this up "animal cruelty", poor goldfish :(

That wasn't your kids pet goldfish now was it?

Seen someone else say that, photoshop wasn't an option?

I know when goldfish are sick it's a much debated issue on how to take away their pain. Some suggest puttting goldfish in a freezer and others disagree. If you ever have to do something like this again and I hope you don't try using clove oil that will put goldfish to sleep. If you use too much they won't wake up so this may be more of a humane way to kill a goldfish. That's just a suggestion but again hope you don't have to as this is just a way in case there is no way to heal a sick goldfish.

Sincerely,
